Walking Sticks

Picture
As of February 2012 the boys are creating their own walking sticks. Literally from "scratch!"
Searching through a pile of brush at Cathedral Camp, which was left over from Hurricane Irene, each boy has selected the piece of wood they believe will make the best walking stick (or sometimes called a walking stave) for them.

They have begun to remove the outer  bark from their choices and over the ensuing weeks will complete the de-barking and dry it. During this drying time they will think about how they will personalize their stick and gather pieces of decorations to accomplish that.

Woogles

Picture
Woogles is the name given to the decorative Turk's Head Knot when fashioned into a Boy Scout neckerchief slide.

There are many tales about how the name came about but anyone who learns the trick of making a Woogle* will probably tell you it was all their idea. (*Wikipedia page)
